Empowering Capoeira Enthusiasts

With the growth of capoeira practice around the world, the need arose to create an organization that unites and organizes capoeira globally, while maintaining a deep and strong connection with its Brazilian roots and all those who carry a great deal of knowledge and recognition in the capoeira world. The International Capoeira Federation is a non-profit organization thatpromotes and supports its associate members. Our main goal is to establish Capoeira as an Olympic sport, working together with our affiliates to disseminate worldwide the core values of competitive sport, following the guidelines of the International Olympic Committee.

Our mission is to guide and support our community, promoting Capoeira in all its potential as a competitive sport as well culture expression. Helping to build diversity in cooperation with other organizations.

Marcio Mendes

President

Mestre Márcio Mendes is originally from Belém do Pará, in the Amazon region in the northern part of Brazil. He started practicing capoeira with Mestre Bezerra, a living legend and pioneer of capoeira in the northern region of Brazil. Mestre Márcio is a student of philosophy and biology at York University and also works as a personal trainer in Toronto, Canada, where he resides. He promotes capoeira on various
continents, having taught courses and workshops in gyms, universities, and schools. He is the creator of TRECIRAL, which incorporates capoeira movements and other
techniques and taught to football players and some police and army forces around the globe. He was the first to establish a capoeira course in the physical education department at the University of Toronto. Mestre Márcio is the founder of the National.

Capoeira Association of Canada and one of the founders of the International Capoeira
Federation.

Alexandre da Silva

Vice President

Mestre Alexandre da Silva (Master Dandan) is a distinguished figure in the world of Capoeira,
renowned for his significant contributions and leadership roles within various Capoeira
organizations. Currently serving as the Board Director of the Brazilian Confederation UFCB, he plays a pivotal role in shaping the direction of Capoeira at the national level. In addition, Mestre Alexandre serves as the President of the Capoeira Federation of Ceará State, where he actively promotes and fosters the growth of Capoeira within the region. His dedication and expertise extend further as he holds the position of Director of the Brazilian Association of Capoeira Instructors, contributing to the development and standardization of Capoeira instruction across the country. Mestre Alexandre da Silva's multifaceted roles underscore his commitment to the
preservation and advancement of Capoeira in Brazil.

Fernando de Souza

Born on 10/22/1948 in the city of Cambará State of Paraná

He learned capoeira with Mestre Hélio Tabosa, in Brasília DF - BR, in whose academy he remained physically for eight years in the 1980s

In 1988 he transferred his residence to Belém PA - BR and became Master Bezerra's student and assistant.

One of the founders of the Paraense Capoeira Federation in 1995

Recognized capoeira master in 1999, by Mestre Bezerra in accordance with the Brazilian Capoeira Confederation.

He created and maintained his own gym from 1999 to 2008.

He currently maintains an active video page on YouTube, with 16 thousand people registered, with flashes of his capoeira training routine, where he safeguards the nomenclature of the movements he practices: @FernandoCambara

He is retired from the Central Bank of Brazil, an institution he served for 23 years, having also been an employee of Banco do Brasil.
